Pete Lembo is one of the biggest history buffs in the SEC, and the special teams coordinator at South Carolina had plenty of reason to mix World War II following a kickoff return for a touchdown on Saturday.

During his regular appearance with the media on Wednesday, Lembo said the return was like a Clint Eastwood movie, it had the good, the bad and the ugly. Xavier Legette had it all during his 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

The good was the blocks into the boundary, he said, the bad was Nate Adkins missing time in preparation because of an ankle injury. But the ugly was a hilarious description from Lembo.

“The ugly, quite frankly, was our backside blocks were not up to our standards,” he said. “They went through us back there like German panzers across France,” Lembo said. “We looked like Roger Dorn fielding ground balls at third base in Major League back there. But it was just enough time and space for Xavier to get going … and then obviously finishing the run with one shoe.”
