After spending his entire professional career with the Bears, Alshon Jeffery’s time in Chicago has come to an end.

According to ESPN’s Josina Anderson, the former South Carolina wide receiver is signing a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jeffery was the model of consistency during the first three years of his career, playing in 42 of a possible 48 games from 2012-14, including 32-straight games in his second and third seasons.

Jeffery’s brightest season came in 2013, during which he amassed 1,421 receiving yards, good enough for sixth-best in the league. That gaudy total, as well as the seven touchdowns that accompanied it, earned him a trip to the Pro Bowl.

2013 looked to be a sign of things to come for the former Gamecock, who followed it with a 1,133-yard, 10 touchdown performance in 2014.

The following two seasons, however, would be complicated by injuries to Jeffery and the general erosion of talent in Chicago. The Bears failed to have a player selected to the initial Pro Bowl rosters in either year and their offense struggled to find consistency at the quarterback spot.

Still, Jeffery is regarded as an elite talent, listed as the top free agent available by NFL.com

He joins an Eagles’ roster that badly needs receiver help, with number-one option Jordan Mattews tied for eighth in the league with six dropped passes last season. Additionally, the Eagles have seen former number-one target Jeremy Maclin depart for Kansas City and first-round pick Nelson Agholar fail to make an impact, registering just 648 yards in two seasons.
