The South Carolina Gamecocks were able to get a much-needed victory against Jacksonville State on Saturday. It wasn’t the most dominating performance, but the Gamecocks needed a win in the worst of ways, so they will take the 38-28 victory.

Spencer Rattler had a big day throwing the ball, as he threw for 399 yards and 2 touchdowns. His favorite target on the day was Xavier Legette, as he had 9 catches for 217 yards and both of Rattler’s touchdowns.

There were some injuries in the game for South Carolina, and coach Shane Beamer talked about those injuries in his press conference.

With the win, the Gamecocks moved to 3-6 on the year, and more importantly, stayed in bowl contention. It is going to take an undefeated stretch to end the year, but South Carolina showed last year that it isn’t out of the question.

After the Vanderbilt game on Saturday, the remaining two opponents for the Gamecocks are the Kentucky Wildcats and Clemson Tigers. One big positive for South Carolina is all three of these games are at home.

The game against Vanderbilt is scheduled for 12 pm ET, and it will be shown on the SEC Network next Saturday.
