On Tuesday morning, news broke that two South Carolina football players were involved in an altercation at a bar on Saturday night that involved a man being assaulted, though no charges have officially been filed.

The two current players named in the incident report were LB Skai Moore and WR Deebo Samuel, along with former Gamecock Jalen Dread.

As coach Will Muschamp and law enforcement officials continue to gather evidence in the incident, nothing has been determined for certain just yet.

According to 247Sports.com, Muschamp responded to the allegations on Tuesday afternoon, saying that Samuel wasn’t even at the bar on Saturday night:

“We’re still kind of gathering the facts. I’ve been out of town, so been out of pocket,” Muschamp said. “I really don’t have any other comment other than I have talked to Deebo Samuel and he was not at the establishment. It’s an incorrect report and some irresponsible journalism in my opinion, but it is what it is.”

Moore missed all of last season with a neck injury, while Samuel emerged as one of the SEC’s best receivers and kick returners.

Both are key pieces in the Gamecocks’ 2017 plans.
