South Carolina coach Will Muschamp has rounded out his first staff in Columbia, and he hired another former Florida assistant to do so.

Former Gators All-American linebacker Mike Peterson, who served as a student assistant under Muschamp at Florida before becoming a strength and conditioning coordinator under Jim McElwain, was hired as the Gamecocks outside linebackers coach, the school announced on Tuesday.

Peterson becomes the fourth former Gators assistant on Muschamp’s staff. Travaris Robinson, Kurt Roper and Coleman Hutzler are the others who Muschamp hired during his four-year tenure in Gainesville.

Peterson played at UF from 1995-98 before playing 14 seasons in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Indianapolis Colts and Atlanta Falcons. He was taken in the 2nd round, 36th overall by the Colts in the 1999 NFL Draft.
