It looks like South Carolina will be in good hands with Ryan Hilinski running the offense.

The 4-star Gamecocks commit will receive the 2018 Sam B. Nicola Award, which is presented annually to the national high school player of the year as judged by the Touchdown Club of Columbus (Ohio). Named for the organization’s founder, past editions of the award has gone to such players as Emmitt Smith and Josh Rosen.

Hilinski finished with more than 8,000 passing yards and 85 total touchdowns for Orange Lutheran High School in Orange, California. The 6-foo-4, 220-pound quarterback committed to South Carolina in April before throwing for 2,771 yards and 29 touchdowns in his senior season.

Hilinski is ranked as the second-best pro-style quarterback and No. 50 overall player in the 2019 class by 247Sports.com’s composite ratings.
