South Carolina’s quest for an upset against Clemson in the Palmetto Bowl didn’t get off to the greatest start.

South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler threw an early pick-6 that was taken back 35 yards by Clemson’s Jeremiah Trotter Jr.:

South Carolina is wearing black helmets with the palmetto tree above the face masks. Rattler is coming off a monster performance in South Carolina’s 63-38 upset against Tennessee. Rattler went 30-for-37 with for 438 yards, 6 touchdowns, and no interceptions. Rattler threw 2 touchdowns apiece to Josh Vann and Jaheim Bell.

Clemson smashed Miami 40-10 in its last game. Clemson quarterback DJ Uiagalelei went 23-for-35 with 233 yards, 2 touchdowns, and an interception, while adding 89 yards and a score on the ground. Jalyn Phillips tallied an interception for Clemson.

Clemson holds a 72-42-4 vs.South Carolina in the all-time series, with victories in the last 7 matchups. Clemson earned 30-0 shutout victory in Columbia last season. South Carolina’s last win against Clemson was a 31-17 victory on Nov. 30, 2013.
