There aren’t too many bigger celebrity fans in the SEC than Darius Rucker with his support of the South Carolina Gamecocks.

So it was no surprised that Rucker and his band, “Hootie and the Blowfish” celebrated in a big way as Georgia’s field goal attempt sailed wide. The band was in the United Kingdom in the midst of a series of shows throughout October. The band members held their breath as South Carolina, which was a 24.5-point underdog, held on for the narrow victory, 20-17.

Rucker often wears school apparel on stage and parks his RV outside Williams-Brice Stadium on a game day in the fall. Rucker, a USC alum, recently donated a recording studio, to the new football facility on campus.

Rucker attended the school in the 1980s. It was there he met Mark Bryan, Jim “Soni” Sonefeld, and Dean Felber and formed the group Hootie And the Blowfish.
