South Carolina coach Will Muschamp took some time to discuss his 2019 recruiting class during Thursday night’s “Carolina Calls.”

“We feel really good about, No. 1, in our state — five young men we’ve offered all committed to us. We’re excited about that,” Muschamp said on his weekly radio show.

Muschamp isn’t only focused on having the top-ranked recruiting class in the state, though.

He also noted the Gamecocks’ need to explore more of Georgia, Florida and North Carolina, but he seemed pleased overall with South Carolina’s efforts so far.

“I feel really good about where we are,” he said. “Recruiting is a marathon. You’ve got to continue to run the race, as you get into to December, obviously with the early signing day, then you focus on the guys that are maybe still out there in February.”

The Gamecocks are certainly running well, as South Carolina’s most prized recruit thus far is five-star defensive end Zachh Pickens from nearby Anderson, S.C.

The report also mentioned seven four-star prospects that are committed for 2019, including wide receivers Jamario Holley and Traeyvon Kenion, among others.

The Gamecocks’ in-state class features Holley and Kenion, as well as Keshawn Toney, a three-star tight end out of Willison, S.C.

According to the report, South Carolina currently holds the seventh spot for 2019 recruiting classes in the SEC.

South Carolina isn’t currently ranked in the Associated Press Top 25, but as a dark-horse contender for the SEC East, they should be well on the way with a new batch of Gamecocks.
