The left knee injury suffered by South Carolina freshman QB Ryan Hilinski in the second half at Georgia has recovered enough that he practiced on Tuesday morning, coach Will Muschamp said at his regular weekly press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

Hilinski hobbled off the field, with help from medical personnel, and had an oversized brace on it for the rest of the game. He even struggled to move much when he and teammates celebrated the upset at Georgia.

Hilinski should be fine to play on Saturday against Florida, the coach said. He also noted that backup Dakereon Joyner, who previously played at wide receiver, is now focused solely on quarterback following Hilinski’s injury. He didn’t get any practice time at receiver. Hilinski, meanwhile, wore a brace, but has worn one previously.

“That’s up to our medical staff and they tell us what he can and can’t do and that’s what we ask Ryan about, too,” Muschamp said.

Immediately after the game, Muschamp said it wasn’t a severe injury, but Hilinski was not moving well enough to protect himself.

Hilinski was 15-for-20 passsing for 116 yards and a touchdown. Joyner was 6-for-12 passing for 39 yards. Joyner also added 28 yards rushing on six carries.

The Gamecocks and Gators kickoff Saturday at noon ET on ESPN.
