Conference realignment rumors continue to persist nationally, despite the Big Ten and SEC saying they’re sticking a 16 teams for now.

That hasn’t stopped one school from having preliminary talks with the Big Ten, though, it seems.

Per college football insider Brett McMurphy, Oregon has started having discussions with the league to see if the school is compatible with the Big Ten. However, McMurphy notes that the outgoing Oregon president, AD Rob Mullens and B1G commissioner Kevin Warren are not among those involved in the discussions at this point:

Obviously, these discussions are in the very early stages and might not go anywhere at all, but it is noteworthy that they’re happening at all.

We’ll see what happens in the coming months and years, but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of confidence in the Pac-12’s future these days.
