Rick Neuheisel is the latest in the national media to blast Mario Cristobal for his poor clock management that resulted in Miami’s stunning defeat against visiting Georgia Tech.

Miami had the game secured and only needed to kneel to ice the win. Instead, Cristobal called up a running play, which ended up being a fumble and resulted in the ensuing game-winning touchdown by Georgia Tech.

During his radio show, Neuheisel was flabbergasted at Cristobal for the costly decision.

“I feel like there’s been a death in the world of clock management. This needs a federal investigation…Miami, ladies and gentleman, just screwed the pooch in losing to Georgia Tech,” Neuheisel said. “Give Brent Key and the Yellow Jackets all the credit in the world for hanging in there. But this game was over.”

Neuheisel alluded to the fact that fate shouldn’t be tempted when the finish line is within reach.

“Just take a knee. Winning is so hard,” Neuheisel said. “When you get to that magic moment where you realize the math is in your favor and you get to put in the greatest play ever invented in this wonderful world–which is victory formation—just say those words.”

No. 25 Miami will aim to bounce back when they take on host No. 12 North Carolina in primetime on Oct. 14 (7:30 p.m. EST/ABC).
