Washington’s head coaching search is starting to heat up.

Auburn coach Bryan Harsin is reportedly in the mix to become Washington’s next head football coach, per the latest report.

The move would make sense given his history. Harsin was born in Boise, Idaho and coached Boise State from 2014-2020. Harsin is 6-4 and 3-3 in the SEC in his first season as the Tigers coach.

Harsin was probably a hotter candidate for any coaching vacancy last month when Auburn was one of the surprise teams in the nation. Auburn was 6-2 and in the early conversations concerning teams that could win the SEC and possibly even make the College Football Playoff. Since then, Auburn has lost two consecutive games, against Texas A&M and Mississippi State.

Several other coaches are reportedly in the mix, including Fresno State head coach Kalen DeBoer, Boston College head coach Jeff Hafley, California head coach Justin Wilcox and Oregon State head coach Jonathan Smith.

Auburn plays at South Carolina today at 7 EST.
