Conner Weigman looked very good Saturday evening against New Mexico.

As always, it’s best to take early quarterback performances against inferior opponents with a grain of salt. However, it’s obvious that Weigman has improved heading into the 2023 season.

The Texas A&M QB threw for 236 yards and 5 touchdowns with 0 interceptions on 18/23 passing to lead the Aggies to a 52-10 win over the Lobos.

And it seems Weigman might be reading into his performance a liiiitle too much. Following the game, Weigman revealed that he asked new offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino if he reminded him of a certain QB that Petrino coached a few years ago: Lamar Jackson.

Petrino could do nothing but shake his head.

In fairness to Weigman, there aren’t many people who can compare to Jackson’s incredible 2016 and 2017 seasons at Louisville. The current Baltimore Raven’s 2016 Heisman season was nothing short of magical.

It was certainly a good start to the season, Conner. Let’s see how you far against Miami in south Florida next week.
