Jimbo Fisher named 3 important aspects of offensive consistency during the SEC’s weekly teleconference Wednesday afternoon.

The Texas A&M head coach has a good one coming up this week as Texas A&M faces off against an Auburn defense that has had a strong start to the season.

So naturally, Fisher was asked how Texas A&M can maintain some offensive consistency after a good start to the year behind new OC Bobby Petrino. His 3 pillars of consistency? Execution, experience and leadership.

“I think 3 things, No. 1 is execution. We got 3 things, we’ve got execution going on because of experience and leadership. Our experience now, of all the young players we played a year ago with the injuries and mis-matching fronts and even the receivers and all that. That’s really paid off, we’ve made some great addition with some freshmen and some transfers. Our quarterback in the 2nd year in the system grasping the details of it. More importantly, the consistency of staying healthy up front on the offensive line to allow the communication. Bobby’s doing a great job on our offense. A lot of the same things with some new things. But at the same time, I think we’ve got more experience, great leadership and now we’re executing at a higher level and you do that, you gain confidence and the consistency at the positions, and the physicality of the offensive line is really helping us.”

The Aggies have put up 44 points per game this season, a mark that ranks 3rd in the SEC through Week 3. Texas A&M’s 10 touchdowns on the season is 2nd in the SEC behind Vanderbilt (12), which has played 4 games opposed to the Aggies’ 3.

That starts at the QB position with Conner Weigman, who has had quite the jump from 2022 to 2023 thus far. The sophomore QB is benefitting from a good system and even better wide receivers, though he had to work without 2 of them (Noah Thomas and Evan Stewart) during last week’s win over UL Monroe.

Week 4’s matchup against Auburn will kick off at Noon ET on ESPN.
