Kevin Sumlin comments on Will Gunnell flipping off crowd
It didn’t look good at halftime, but Texas A&M posted a strong second half to beat ULL 45-21.
With the Aggies losing 21-14 at halftime, Texas A&M scored 31 unanswered points in the second half. No doubt Kevin Sumlin challenged his team at halftime, and the team responded.
At halftime, Aggies’ Will Gunnell flipped off the crowd entering the locker room. He has since apologized.
Sumlin commented on the gesture after the game:
Sumlin: Was made aware of [Gunnell gesture] at halftime. We dealt with it. He did not return to the field. He's since issued an apology.

Here’s what Sumlin said after the game:
Sumlin: We were like two different teams. Coming in, it was about effort, communication and execution. [The latter] is a work in progress.

Sumlin: In the first half we didn't execute and in the second half we did. We ran the ball in the 2nd. Erik McCoy at center helped us.

Sumlin: Defense has created turnovers. We are a work in progress but we've won the TO battle every week. 2nd half…pretty solid.

Sumlin: Somebody said something about Jake not playing. It wasn't me.

Sumlin: [Mond] has gotten better. He's been a lot more assertive. We're getting to know him as coaches. We're learning what he likes to run.

Sumlin: [McCoy] moving back to center was a big deal. The ability to communicate who's blocking who before snap really helps.

Sumlin: [Kibodi] did not disappoint. To give [Williams] a chance to get fresh for next week…we've got 4 guys who can go.

Sumlin: I challenged [the WRs]. We made some plays today on the perimeter and we didn't [at times].
