The Johnny Manziel comeback tour continues as scheduled as the former Texas A&M star has reportedly started to generate some real interest from at least one NFL team.

It was reported in early March that the New Orleans Saints could show some interest in Manziel, now that report is being backed up by NFL Insider Ian Rapoport. According to Rapoport’s sources, Manziel spent time with Saints head coach Sean Payton during Super Bowl week in Houston and the team continues to monitor his progress.

With New Orleans having a firm starting quarterback in place in Drew Brees, acquiring Manziel would make sense for both parties. After being out of the NFL for a season, Manziel wouldn’t likely be forced into action early and could learn from one of the game’s top quarterback coaches. At the same time, riding the bench for a season or two might teach Manziel some humility, which he badly seemed to need in Cleveland.

Keep in mind Manziel is only 24 years old, just a bit older than several of the quarterbacks expected to enter the league in the 2017 NFL Draft. Manziel was the No. 22 overall selection in the 2014 NFL Draft and spent two seasons in Cleveland before being released by the team.
