The college football world saw Texas A&M’s unfathomable collapse Sunday night.

The UCLA Bruins scored 35 unanswered points to defeat the Aggies 45-44. Texas A&M held a 44-10 lead in the third quarter before Bruins QB Josh Rosen put the team on his back and led them to victory.

Rosen’s game-winning TD will be talked about for a long, long time. Down 44-38, Rosen marched the Bruins down the field and faked a spike (to stop the clock) and hit his WR Jordan Lasley for the game-winning TD with 43 seconds left. It was evident that Texas A&M’s defense wasn’t ready or aware of the situation, because the clock was already stopped from the previous play. So, in effect, UCLA faked trying to stop the clock while it was already stopped. Rosen explained the play during his post-game press conference here.

Nonetheless, it was a great play, but should it have been reviewed? As Dr. Saturday notes, it appears the WR didn’t have full control until his left toe was out of bounds.

It would certainly be tough to overturn that play, but at the very least, it should have been reviewed. Knowing how officials review plays in the biggest moments to ensure they’re correct, it’s surprising it never was reviewed. Interestingly, the replay on TV wasn’t shown until after the Bruins kicked the extra point.

But with the way things were going, the Aggies’ defense wasn’t going to stop Rosen and UCLA anyway.
