Report: Texas A&M hires former assistant as new O-line coach
Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin hired a familiar face to take over the team’s offensive line.
According to FootballScoop, Sumlin hired former Mike Sherman assistant Jim Turner. Turner, who is a former Miami Dolphins’ assistant, recently became the University of Cincinnati’s running backs coach.
Turner is considered the architect of the Aggies’ dominant offensive line play in recent history. After TAMU, he was hired with the Dolphins in 2012, but he didn’t survive the “Bullygate” mess in 2013.
Texas A&M parted ways with former offensive line coach Dave Christensen earlier this month. The Aggies allowed 37 sacks in 2015, good for 107th in the country.
In addition to piecing together one of the top OL hauls in CFB history, Turner also signed a little-known basketball player named Mike Evans
