Notre Dame is a slight underdog in its 2024 season-opener to Texas A&M.

The Aggies opened as 1.5-point favorites over Notre Dame, per the initial line set by FanDuel this week. FanDuel set lines for several of the most highly-anticipated games on the 2024 slate:

Notre Dame will be battling a familiar face as it takes on Texas A&M in Week 1 in new Aggies head coach Mike Elko. Texas A&M hired Elko away from Duke this offseason to replace Jimbo Fisher as head coach. Elko previously spent 1 season (2017) at Notre Dame as the program’s defensive coordinator.

Notre Dame has had a strong offseason so far. The Fighting Irish are set to return several key starters on the defensive side of the ball and have been active in the transfer portal. Notre Dame’s portal class is led by former Duke quarterback Riley Leonard and a pair of potential starters at wide receiver: former Clemson receiver Beaux Collins and former FIU receiver Kris Mitchell.

Texas A&M has dealt with numerous transfer portal departures this offseason, but the Aggies have also done a good job of replenishing its roster via the portal. Texas A&M currently has the No. 2-ranked transfer class in the country, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Notre Dame is 3-2 all-time against Texas A&M. This will be the first meeting between these two programs since 2001.

Notre Dame and Texas A&M will play in College Station on Aug. 31. A kickoff time for this game has not yet been announced.
