Texas A&M isn’t done yet, rolling into Omaha by winning the first 2 games of the Super Regional against Louisville. Saturday’s clincher was tight the entire way with the Aggies getting clutch plays on both sides of the plate.

Trailing 3-2 heading to the 6th inning, Texas A&M got a game-tying home run out of Ryan Targac. In the 7th, a sacrifice fly by Dylan Rock gave the Aggies a 4-3 lead.

Hanging onto that lead was no easy task. Louisville was able to get the lead-off man on in the 7th, 8th and 9th innings. However, the Cardinals were only able to advance that runner to second once, getting the tying run on second base in the 9th inning.

Fortunately, the Aggie bullpen – and catcher Troy Claunch – were up to the occasion. Claunch gunned out Louisville’s Chris Seng at second base in the 8th inning, and Texas A&M reliever Jacob Palisch ended the game with a strikeout to strand the tying run at second.

For the game, a trio of A&M relievers combined to hurl 4.1 scoreless innings to lock down the Cardinals. That included Jim Schlossnagle calling on Palisch with no outs, a runner on first, and a full count on the batter in the 9th inning. Palisch responded with a one-pitch strikeout on his way to closing out the game.
