Texas A&M reportedly loses key offensive playmaker to season-ending injury
Texas A&M running back Rueben Owens will miss the 2024 campaign due to an injury suffered during fall camp, according to a report.
ESPN’s Max Olson and Pete Thamel shared that news on Sunday afternoon. Per the report, Owens suffered a “lower-body injury” during Texas A&M’s scrimmage on Saturday.
Texas A&M RB Rueben Owens is expected to miss the season after suffering a lower body injury in a scrimmage yesterday, sources tell me and @PeteThamel.
Owens produced 743 all-purpose yards and 3 TDs as a freshman in 2023.

This is a huge loss for the Texas A&M offense. Last season as a true freshman, Owens rushed for 385 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also caught 12 passes for 109 yards and returned 12 kicks for 249 yards. A former 5-star recruit, Owens was expected to have an increased offensive role in College Station this season.
If there’s a bright side for Texas A&M, it’s that it does have some depth at the running back position. Both Le’Veon Moss and Amari Daniels are back for the 2024 campaign after playing well at running back last season. Daniels and Moss rushed for 532 and 484 yards, respectively, last season.
Texas A&M is gearing up for Year 1 of the Mike Elko era. The Aggies will kick things off by hosting Notre Dame on Aug. 31. Texas A&M is a 1-point favorite in that game, according to the latest odds from DraftKings.

This happens every year. Across the last three coaches. I don’t understand. It seems we are the most injured team in college football.
