Texas A&M is down a tight end as of Wednesday with Fernando Garza hitting the portal.

Garza appeared in 15 games for the Aggies from 2021-2023, with the majority of them coming as a contributor on special teams.

The 247Sports Composite ranked Garza as a 3-star TE that was No. 36 at the position. He hails from Katy (Tex.) High School.

Here’s what Garza had to say about his time at Texas A&M:

“I am beyond thankful for my time at Texas A&M. The memories I’ve made and relationships I’ve formed are ones that will stay with me forever,” said Garza. “As I look back on my time as an Aggie, I am eternally grateful for my coaches, teammates, training staff, and the 12th man that consistently made me feel supported and loved. After much prayer and consideration, I have decided to enter the transfer portal with 2 years of eligibility. I’m looking forward to this next chapter in my journey and trust God will continue to guide me.”

There was little playing time to be had for Garza behind the likes of Jake Johnson and Max Wright. Garza enters the portal with 2 years of eligibility left.

The Aggies face Oklahoma State in the Texas Bowl on Dec. 27 after a 7-5 finish.
