During Trayveon Williams’ freshman season at Texas A&M, the Aggies running back looked out onto the field and an opposing back caught his eye.

Williams then knew the type of player he wanted to be.

That opposing running back was former Tennessee standout Alvin Kamara, who now plays for the New Orleans Saints and was the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year last season.

“It’s crazy because I played against him, and now I idolize my game after him,” Williams said at SEC Media Days in Atlanta on Monday. “He’s great because he can run the rock and also, he can catch the ball. He’s such a great weapon. I idolize my game after that because he explains his role as a running back as being a receiver as well.”

Last season, Williams rushed for 603 yards and six touchdowns, adding 17 receptions for 171 yards. During his freshman year in 2016, he had 1,057 rushing yards and 19 catches for 91 yards.

Williams may get even more involved in the passing game in the future if he continues to model his game after Kamara. The Texas A&M running back is entering his junior season and could be poised to lead the Aggies’ offense under new coach Jimbo Fisher.
