In one week, the Jimbo Fisher era officially begins at Texas A&M.

The Aggies open their season with a Thursday night home game against Northwestern State on Aug. 30 at Kyle Field. And junior running back Trayveon Williams said in an interview shared by Texas A&M’s team Twitter account that the team is ready and excited.

“It’s an exciting feeling, being able to go back out there and compete,” Williams said. “Whenever you’re able to be in front of Kyle Field, it’s always a great feeling. We have the best fans in the world, best fans in the country, and those, and those guys are going to come out there and give us their all every day. I’m excited to be able to go back out there in front of them so they can see this new team.”

Williams has 1,660 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns over his first two seasons with the Aggies. Last year, he had 603 yards and six touchdowns.

This season, Texas A&M could look like a completely different team with Fisher at the helm. And while Williams said practices have been tough, that should pay off soon.

“It has been intense, but at the same time, it’s that intensity that’s going to bring out the best in this team,” Williams said. “This team is ready, this team has been competing and this team is ready to go out there and be the best that we can be. This university deserves it, this community deserves it, and we’re going to give it to them.”
