Boo Corrigan addresses how the Playoff committee views Tennessee over Oregon

The College Football Playoff committee had Tennessee just above Oregon in the latest round of the rankings.

One-loss Tennessee dropped from No. 1 to No. 5. Meanwhile, one-loss Oregon, is at No. 6 in the rankings.
Committee chair Boo Corrigan says that Tennessee’s victories against Alabama, LSU, and Kentucky gives them the edge against an Oregon squad that’s on an 8-game winning streak since dropping the season opener 49-3 against now-No. 1 Georgia.

Corrigan said Vols’ wins over Bama and LSU and KY have them over Ducks right now. “At this point, as we’re looking at it, I think that was the primary reason as we were looking at two really, really good football teams.”

Tennessee started the season 8-0 prior to Georgia. Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker went 23-for-33 for 195 yards with no touchdowns, and one interception. Dynamic Tennessee receiver Jalin Hyatt was finally contained with 6 receptions for 63 yards. Tennessee only had 94 yards on the ground at a clip of 2.2 yards per carry. The Tennessee defense registered no sacks or quarterback hurries on Georgia’s Stetson Bennett.

Oregon is coming off a 49-10 victory at Colorado. Oregon has ranked victories against BYU and UCLA.

Next up for Tennessee is a home matchup against Missouri on Saturday (12 p.m. ET/CBS). Oregon hosts No. 25 Washington on Saturday (7 p.m. ET/FOX).
