California QB JT Shrout decommits from Cal after Tennessee visit
Is Tennessee set to get its QB on Wednesday during the early signing period?
Things appear to be heading in that direction, and it would be a nice get after the previous two QBs — Michael Penix and Adrian Martinez — decommitted earlier this month.
Newhall, California, native JT Shrout decommitted from Cal Tuesday night following last weekend’s visit and ahead of the early signing period. Shrout is rated a 3-star prospect and ranked as the nation No. 26 pro-style QB and the state of California’s No. 71 overall prospect. He had been committed to the Bears since June, but following a visit to Tennessee last weekend, things changed.
Don’t let his rankings fool you, though, because he could be one of the country’s best kept secrets at his position.
After much thought and prayer I have decided to de-commit from from Cal. I would like to thank Coach Wilcox and his staff for giving me this opportunity, but I feel this is the best thing for me to do. I will still be signing tomorrow during the early signing period. Thank you.
