Derek Dooley eating spaghetti post-game amid Tennessee fans celebrating is as sad as you'd expect
Derek Dooley has been on both sides of the big rivalry played on the Third Saturday in October.
Dooley joined the Crimson Tide staff as a senior offensive analyst this offseason. But what drew attention was that Dooley was Tennessee’s head coach from 2010-12, which was 3 lopsided losses to Nick Saban. At UT, Dooley’s teams went 15-21 overall and 4-19 in the SEC
John Talty of AL.com captured Dooley and noted that he was eating a container of spaghetti and meatballs in the corner under the stadium as Vols fans celebrated above him.
Dooley and Saban, though, have a long history together, starting when Dooley was a running backs coach at LSU under Saban, and then as a tight ends coach with the Miami Dolphins.
Dooley has spent more time in the NFL, most recently with the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys.
Dooley coached wide receivers on the Dallas Cowboys staff from 2013-to-2017. He returned to the SEC as Missouri’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the 2018 and ’19 seasons. The last 2 seasons, he was on Joe Judge’s New York Giants coaching staff.
