Tennessee DT Danny O’Brien has addressed his recent dismissal from the team in a statement posted on his Twitter account:
I take full responsibility. I'm grateful for my teammates, coaches, and Vol nation. It has been and honor to help bring this program back.

The school announced O’Brien was off the team in a statement Monday:
“Defensive lineman Danny O’Brien has been dismissed from the Tennessee football team for violation of team rules. This news is unrelated to the injury he suffered against Texas A&M. However, should he require any additional care, it will be provided by the University of Tennessee.”
O’Brien was carted off the field in a stretcher Saturday at Texas A&M. UT says the dismissal is unrelated to the injury.
He played in 36 games during his Vols career, and had started every game of the 2016 season.
