One of Tennessee’s most prized signees in the class of 2019 was Quavaris Crouch.
The Charlotte, North Carolina, native was ranked as the nation’s No. 3 overall athlete and the state’s top overall player, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. He’s also an early enrollee getting his first taste of college life and spring practice.
Tennessee opened up spring practice this week, and the media relations team caught up with Crouch. The Vols LB shared the video from his Twitter account.
“I’m just getting used to everything coming in; so, all the information and all the installs,” Crouch explained. “Being able to get better with mental reps when you’re not going. The first two practices have been pretty good. The fourth quarter program and everything like that allowed us to get better so we come out here and it won’t be as bad on us. It’s been a lot of running around. It’s different from high school, because we didn’t have so many kids. It’s a big adjustment, but I feel like I’m adapting to the environment well, and I’ve got help from my teammates and my brothers. Just helping me out and keeping me going along.”
Goals for this spring? Crouch is just focussed on getting better and learning the playbook.
“I don’t really set a lot of goals,” Crouch said. “I feel like I’m limiting myself a little bit. I just do everything right. I try to encourage everybody else around me and get better myself. You get better days, and you go back days. But for the most part it’s been good days. I’ve been getting better and learning more about the playbook.”
While college football is certainly a different brand of ball than high school, perhaps Crouch’s biggest adjustment is the culture change from Charlotte to Knoxville.
“I’m from Charlotte. So Tennessee, you know country music and everything like that, it’s just new to me. But I’m adapting well to it, and I’m having fun at Tennessee.”
