In the age of commitments announced via tweets featuring graphics and videos, former Tennessee wide receiver Jerrod Means managed to fly under the radar. Means has updated his Twitter account bio to “wideout at La Tech.” He recently discussed the move to Louisiana Tech with Cory Diaz of the Monroe News-Star, who reports the decision was actually made in early March. Means confirmed he is now enrolled at the Conference USA school.

“I felt the family atmosphere at Tech and I like what the coaches are building there,” Means told Diaz.

Coming out of Hampton, Georgia, Means was a 3-star recruit who chose UT over 25 other offers, including Missouri and North Carolina. As a freshman, Means spent summer and fall camp and fall camp working with the Vols cornerbacks before switching back to wide receiver in September. He played in five games last season before being sidelined by injury. He was primarily used as a blocker last season, not registering any receptions in those five appearances.

Means entered the transfer portal in December.
