Tennessee has added a 3rd transfer portal prospect in the 2023 cycle, scoring a commitment from former Texas tackle Andrej Karic.

The former 3-star tackle appeared in 12 games for the Longhorns this past season, but was unable to lock up a starting spot. He could be a good answer to the departing Darnell Wright, who announced he would be entering the 2023 NFL Draft following Tennessee’s Orange Bowl matchup against Clemson.

Karic stands at 6-foot-6, 306 pound and will have 3 remaining years of eligibility for the Vols.

Gerald Mincey played well for Tennessee this season after transferring from Florida last year. As of now, he seems to be the only tackle on the team that is likely to earn a starting spot next season, though Jerimiah Crawford will also make a run at a starting spot.

For what it’s worth, most of Karic’s snaps came at left tackle this past season, where Mincey did most of his work for the Vols. Wright slid over to where he is more comfortable at right tackle after taking a majority of snaps at left tackle in 2021.
