Gerald Mincey made a lot of Tennessee fans happy Monday night.

The former Florida transfer and solid starting option at right tackle announced officially Tuesday morning that he will be returning to Tennessee for a 5th season. Reports originally came out regarding Mincey’s decision Monday night.

Mincey confirmed his plans Tuesday on X, formerly Twitter:

After a few setbacks this offseason in the recruiting and transfer world, Tennessee needed this news badly. Nico Iamaleava is set to take over QB snaps for the Vols next season and with LT John Campbell also announcing his return, he should be well-protected on dropbacks.

Now, it’s time to wait and see how Cooper Mays and Javontez Spraggins choose to use their final years of eligibility along the interior of the offensive line. If one or both elect to return, that’s a massive boon for a Vols team that many are itching to see reach elite offensive numbers once again.
