Another ESPN college football analyst has joined the chorus of critics against Tennessee coach Butch Jones and the state of the Vols’ program.

Speaking on SportsCenter, Jesse Palmer said the hot seat began weeks ago after losing for a sixth straight time at Florida, and struggling against UMass.

“You have to understand, in Knoxville, Tenn., the expectation is to win the SEC East division. Period,” Palmer said. “Head coach Butch Jones has had four straight recruiting classes that finished in the top 15. That’s supposed to translate into wins. Their game against Georgia wasn’t supposed to be some barometer test to find out, ‘Hey, let’s just see where we match up here against who we think is the best team in our division.’ They were supposed to win that game at home.”

The loss to Georgia dropped Tennessee to 3-2 overall and 0-2 in the SEC. The Vols have a bye this week, and return to action Oct. 14 against South Carolina.
