With Jeremy Pruitt now in control of Tennessee football, one question that continues to linger over the program is the status of dismissed receiver Jauan Jennings.

Jennings was booted from the program by interim head coach Brady Hoke, after consulting with former AD John Currie, last November. However, that action has not prevented Pruitt from considering the possibility of having Jennings return to the field for the Vols.

When asked about the possibility of Jennings making a return, Pruitt had this to say during a press conference last week.

“Obviously there has been some movement before I got here, I really had no control over that,” Pruitt said. “I know there’s a lot from you guys, you have to write about things but from my standpoint, I know Jauan has reached out to Coach Fulmer and I know they met. I actually reached out to him because I felt like Coach Fulmer talking to him, I should do that.

“There will be a time, probably in the next couple of days, me and him may possibly sit down and just kind of see where things are at.”

Since that time, Jennings continues to trend toward making a return to the football field. SDS has learned that Jennings has enrolled in class at Tennessee for the recent start of the semester in Knoxville. In addition to that information, Trey Wallace of The Read Optional is reporting that Jennings is already back in class at Tennessee.

Considering this news, in addition to both Pruitt and Fulmer mulling over the idea of a return to the program, at this point it seems only a formality before Jennings is back on the team. How long of a leash the receiver has or what he does with a potential second chance remains to be seen but he’s likely had several weeks to ponder what life would be like without Tennessee football.

Will that be enough to keep Jennings on the straight and narrow for the rest of his career, should he rejoin the team?
