JJ Harrell is one of the top players out of Mississippi and a key wide receiver in the 2024 recruiting class. On Monday, he revealed he’s heading to the SEC.

The 4-star prospect out of North Panola High School in Sardis revealed a commitment to Josh Heupel’s Tennessee program. He held a number of other SEC offers at the time of his commitment, including from Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.

Listed at 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, the 247 Sports Composite Rankings rate Harrell as the No. 5 player out of Mississippi and 32nd WR nationally for the class of 2024. He’s also the 205th recruit in the country.

Impact for Tennessee

Harrell’s pledge gives the Vols 5 commitments for the 2024 recruiting cycle. Harrell is one of a trio of 4-star prospects committed to Tennessee so far with that group ranked 9th nationally by the 247 Sports Team Composite Rankings.

There’s still plenty of time to add to that, but it’s a strong start for Heupel’s group heading into the spring. Tennessee also signed the 9th overall recruiting class for the 2023 cycle.
