Josh Dobbs has officially been named as the Cleveland Browns’ backup quarterback heading into the regular season, as confirmed by head coach Kevin Stefanski.

The Tennessee product is the primary backup for Deshaun Watson and will be ahead of rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson on the depth chart.

The 6-foot-3, 216-pound Dobbs was a member of the Vols from 2013-16. The electric Dobbs tallied 7,138 yards and 53 touchdowns through the air, while producing  2,160 yards and 32 scores on the ground at Tennessee.

Dobbs earned the Music City Bowl MVP in 2016. Tennessee gave Dobbs the 2017 Torchbearer Award, which is the highest honor for an undergraduate student. The award highlights accomplishments in the community and in academics.

The Pittsburgh Steelers picked Dobbs in the 2017 NFL Draft with the No. 135 pick. During his pro career, Dobbs has amassed 456 passing yards and 75 rushing yards in 8 games. Dobbs played 2 games last season with the Tennessee Titans.
