Josh Heupel was asked about one of the storylines of this week’s Tennessee at South Carolina game, which is Jalin Hyatt’s return to his home state.

Much has been made about South Carolina’s previous staff under Will Muschamp not offering Hyatt a scholarship.

Heupel shared on the SEC coaches media teleconference what he expects about the reunion.

“First and foremost, just being able to play close to home,” Heupel said. “Obviously a lot of friends and family have a chance to see him play. … He’s been playing at an elite level and is extremely confident. Those games, those moments, are extremely special.”

Offensive line play has been somewhat of a cause for concern, and Heupel explained how the Vols are fixing it.

“Certainly we want to keep Hendon as clean as possible. You’re always aware of the position you’re putting your offensive line in. … It takes everybody, all 11. … There are some things we haven’t been as clean in that we have an opportunity to correct. We have a great offensive line. They’re prideful.”

About Byron Young, Heupel said the defensive lineman is, “Completely comfortable and confident in himself, his voice, willing to use it in the defensive line play. … How he approaches and competes every day, the guys see that. … Cares deeply about his teammates.”
