Tennessee center Mack Crowder is confident in his team. So much so that he believes a road upset of three-touchdown favorite Oklahoma is not “too farfetched” to envision.

“Being 3-0 is our goal, and right now we don’t see that being too farfetched,” Crowder said after Tuesday’s practice.”We’re treating this like an SEC game because they have an SEC level of talent. This is just another step up for us in competition.”

Oklahoma is 88-5 under Coach Bob Stoops in home games since his hiring in 1999. Crowder responded to questions about whether beating the Sooners in Norman would be considered a “legacy” win for Tennessee, a program looking to rebuild. The center said a victory would be “great” but shouldn’t be considered a legacy win given Tennessee’s rich history.

“It probably shouldn’t be,” Crowder said. “We are Tennessee. We should be used to winning. I think winning at Oklahoma would just put us back on track and give us a little bit more confidence.”

Crowder has started in both of Tennessee’s first two games this season after serving as a backup for two years. His only previous career start came in Tennessee’s upset of No. 11 South Carolina last season.

Crowder was a three-star prospect and the No. 8 overall prospect in Tennessee, according to the 2010 Rivals rankings. He earned All-State, All-Northeast Tenn., All-Conference and All-Region honors as a senior. Crowder served as Tennessee High School’s 2010 team captain and earned was part of the 2009 Conference Championship team.

Oklahoma will host Tennessee at 8 pm on Saturday. The game will be televised nationally on ABC.
