A Tennessee man who is alleged to have posed as Volunteer defensive back Cam Sutton was indicted Tuesday by a federal grand jury on 14 counts of extortion, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel.

Brandon Shannon, 22, is alleged to have blackmailed 14 women – two minors – into sending explicit photos through Snapchat.

Shannon allegedly obtained the numbers by posing as Sutton. Shannon is alleged to have used a photo a black man’s chest on his profile to prove he was Sutton. Shannon is white, but Sutton is black.

Authorities state Shannon threatened the women with violence and humiliation to send him photos.

Assistant U.S. attorney Cynthia Davidson states in the indictment that Shanahan identified himself on Snapchat under the username Camsutton2323 — Suttons old jersey number, 23. Sutton now wears No. 7.

Shannon was initially charged in May through the FBI’s Cyber Crime Task Force and a female Tennessee student accused him of blackmailing her to send nude pictures.

There is no indication Sutton had any involvement or knowledge in the case.
