Part of what makes a college football game atmosphere so fun is the continual playing of the university’s fight song.

It’s a rallying cry all supporters can get behind as a means to galvanize the team. It also functions as a celebratory tune when a touchdown is scored.

AL.com ranked the top 10 college football fight songs across the country. To no one’s surprise, multiple SEC schools featured on the list.

No. 6 on the list is the Texas A&M Aggies — with their song entitled ‘The Aggie War Hymn.’ The song was written by a Texas A&M graduate in Germany during WWI. On gameday, fans will link their arms together and sway back and forth in unison. It’s truly a sight to behold.

No. 3 on the list is ‘Yea, Alabama!’ Hailing in Tuscaloosa, the Alabama battle cry is played after every touchdown score. A contest was held in order to find the university’s new fight song, and this tune won out in 1926.

The No. 1 fight song on this list shouldn’t be too much of a surprise. Iconic and grand in nature, the University of Tennessee’s ‘Rocky Top’ holds top-billing within this ranking.

Performed by the Osborne Brothers in 1967, it became associated with the university in 1972. Ironically enough, it isn’t the “official” fight song of the school. ‘Down the Field’ has that distinction, although ‘Rocky Top’ will forever and always be the beloved ballad.
