Tennessee Senator Bob Corker announced on Tuesday that will retire at the end of his term in 2018.

The news of that announcement sparked a conversation about who could replace Corker in the Senate.

How about Peyton Manning? The former Volunteers quarterback has been rumored to be interested in the political realm before. Now, some people are saying he might be looking to run for Senate.

While this potential Senate run may be based solely on speculation at this point, at least one politician confirmed that it is, indeed, possible.

Business Insider politics reporter Joe Perticone said Tuesday on Twitter that Tennessee Rep. Scott DesJarlais told him Manning is a possible 2018 Senate candidate.

However, Perticone also wrote it’s most likely Manning would wait until 2020.

“DesJarlais said he did not think Manning would run for Corker’s seat, but instead could be eyeing Sen. Lamar Alexander’s seat in 2020 if he chooses to retire as well,” the report from Business Insider stated.
