Peyton Manning continues to expand his post-football life, and now will add a silver screen experience.

Manning, who has shown his depth of talent with television commercials and an appearance on Saturday Night Live, has added animated film character voice, People Magazine reported. The film is “Ferdinand,” the big screen version of a children’s book.

The film is inspired by The Story of Ferdinand by Munro Leaf and Robert Lawson. Manning’s voice is tied to a character named Guapo, a “bras-yet-anxious” bull friend of Ferdinand. Manning will also star with Nick Jones in the film. He wrote an original song called, “Home.”

“This experience has been a lot of fun,” Manning told People about his first-ever voiceover gig for the former Tennessee star and five-time NFL MVP. “I was flattered to be asked by the good folks at Fox and by the creators of this film, Ferdinand. It’s something that I kind of wanted to be a part of, just to be able to watch this film with my kids and to see them laugh knowing maybe that’s their dad up there, onscreen. That’s kind of a cool thing at this moment because of their age and because animated films are so popular with my kids and certainly a lot of kids their age.”

“Ferdinand” is scheduled to be released in theaters on Dec. 15.
