Somewhere between Monday night and Tuesday morning, rumors — many from Tennessee message boards — began swirling that Volunteers quarterback Quinten Dormady had quit the team.

While that can’t be confirmed at this point, it does appear that Dormady is at least contemplating his future with the Vols.

Many of the Tennessee fans who have been pushing for redshirt freshman Jarrett Guarantano to take over the starting job will now get their wish.

Guarantano will start for Tennessee when it hosts South Carolina in Knoxville on Saturday for a Noon ET kickoff on ESPN, according to Rivals Volquest Tennessee writer Jesse Simonton.

Dormady has completed just 55.5 percent of his passes this season for 925 yards with six touchdowns and six interceptions.

Guarantano hasn’t been much better in limited action.
