Now that Jeremy Pruitt is Tennessee’s new head coach, he has to assemble a coaching staff, which he’s already started doing.

As Alabama’s defensive coordinator, that side of the ball is obviously Pruitt’s specialty, so finding the right offensive coordinator will be very important.

According to Volquest.com, Pruitt is expected to hire a USC co-offensive coordinator for the OC position on his staff, but it won’t be former Tennessee QB Tee Martin. The report states that Tyson Helton, brother of USC head coach Clay Helton, will head to Knoxville:

Sources tell Volquest that Southern Cal’s Tyson Helton is expected to take the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach role for the Vols. Helton, 38, served as the passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Southern Cal since 2016, tutoring Sam Darold.

Whether or not Helton will share offensive coordinator responsibilities remains to be seen, but he is expected to join Pruitt’s staff soon.

From there, the Vols will continue assembling their offensive staff heading into the 2018 season.
