A surprise to few, Tennessee RB Alvin Kamara has decided (per 247Sports) to enter the 2017 NFL Draft — effectively ending his time in Knoxville.

A transfer from the junior college ranks (by way of Alabama), the Georgia native played two seasons under Butch Jones.

He was a threat in both catching and running with the football. Kamara finished his two-year stint with a combined 16 rushing touchdowns and 1,263 rushing yards. He also accrued 67 receptions for 637 yards and four touchdowns.

Kamara will hold plenty of value as it pertains to NFL franchises. His ability to catch the ball out of the backfield makes him an ideal third-down back, and he possesses a nice blend of both quickness and power.

With Kamara no longer in the fold, Tennessee will hand the keys to soon-to-be junior running back John Kelly in 2017. The Michigan native has thrived during the second half of the season, and appears to have a bright future.
