Spencer Rattler knows a thing or 2 about being on the other side of a spirited fan base, and the South Carolina quarterback added a little more fire to the Tennessee fans after a loss to the Vols.

About the harsh chants he heard from the crowd in Neyland Stadium, Rattler said, “If you ain’t got haters, you ain’t popping,” and then added later, “It’s like their Super Bowl tonight, so congrats to them.”

Rattler threw for 164 yards  on 24-for-35 passing as South Carolina was 2-of-14 on 3rd-down conversions.

Revenge was on the minds of many Tennessee fans after the Gamecocks last year spoiled Tennessee’s track to the College Football Playoff. One of Rattler’s poor throws on Saturday was picked off by Kamal Hadden, who returned the interception 28 yards for a touchdown to give Tennessee a 24-10 lead at halftime.

The pick-6 came on a 3rd and 22, as South Carolina was shutout in the second quarter, and Rattler was sacked 3 times in the first half alone.

The Vols are now 4-1 on the season and 1-1 in SEC play following the 41-20 win over South Carolina under the lights at Neyland Stadium Saturday night. The Vols did it in “Dark Mode” uniforms, as South Carolina slipped to 2-3.
