Squirrel White insists he ‘never saw the ball’ while making circus catch in first half

Squirrel White may have pulled off the catch of the Josh Heupel era Saturday night against South Carolina.
The Tennessee WR had an incredible game for Tennessee in Week 5, catching 9 passes for over 100 yards. His best catch of the day came in the first half and set up Tennessee for a go-ahead score. The Vols never looked back and won the day, 41-20.
Here’s the kicker. During the Vols’ postgame presser, White revealed that he never actually saw the ball until he hit the ground with it in his hands.
We believe him too, considering his helmet is being pushed upwards by a South Carolina defender. Check it out below:

That’s a silly catch to make when you can see clearly. It’s downright otherworldly with White’s added context.
The Vols were firing on all cylinders Saturday, leaning on White and the rushing trio of Jaylen Wright, Dylan Sampson and Jabari Small. It’s Tennessee’s best win of the season so far and will serve as some momentum heading into the bye week with Texas A&M looming on the Week 7 schedule.
And those in Tennessee may remember that catch for a while, especially now.
