The Tennessee Volunteers face the Iowa Hawkeyes in the 2015 TaxSlayer Bowl  in Jacksonville, Fla., on Friday.  The Vols finished the regular season with a 6-6 (3-5 SEC) record and won three of their last four games. The Hawkeyes were 7-5 (4-4 Big Ten) and ended the season with back-to-back losses.

Iowa’s passing offense ranked No. 53 overall, averaging 242 yards per game. Quarterback Jake Rudock threw for 2,404 yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions on 211-of-337 passing. The junior recorded a 62.6 completion percentage and a 135.2 passer rating.

Rudock has thrown for multiple touchdowns and more than 200 yards in each of Iowa’s last three games. The junior also has one interception in that span, a first quarter pick against Nebraska in the Hawkeyes’ regular season finale.

Tennessee has 15 total interceptions and is averaging 1.5 per game. Cornerbacks Justin Coleman (4) and Cameron Sutton (3) combined for seven picks.

Sutton has started in every game for Tennessee since enrolling in 2013. The sophomore matched up against opposing teams’ primary targets for the majority of his second season and was a snub for the All-SEC teams.

“It’s a motivator, but at the end of the day I really don’t concern myself with that,” Sutton told GoVols247. “Football’s not played on paper. It really doesn’t matter to me. I know what I can do. I know coaches have the belief in me and everybody else around me on this team.

“Like I said, it’ll be a motivator to work even harder than I already work each and every day, to keep pushing me. But it’s not gonna make no big deal that I’m left off of that or anything like that.”

Coleman will play in his last game for the Vols on Friday. The senior enters with 156 tackles and five interceptions, while appearing in 48 career games.

Tennessee’s secondary should play a major factor in the team’s success in its first bowl game since 2010. Outland Trophy winner Brandon Scherff will attempt to slow down Derek Barnett at the line of scrimmage. If the Hawkeyes win the battle in the trenches, the Vols need a big performance from their cornerback duo, as well as the rest of their secondary.
