Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam has signed an official proclamation ahead of the Alabama game for Friday, Oct. 19 to be “Big Orange Friday” throughout the state.

The idea was inspired by Knoxville-area Vol fans in order to engage the community, residents, and fans with Tennessee athletics and the university by wearing orange on Friday every week.

Fans who wear Tennessee orange on Fridays this fall will receive discounts at Knoxville-area stores, restaurants and service providers. An updated list of participating businesses is available at BigOrangeFriday.com.

The proclamation encourages residents from Shelby County to Johnson County to show state pride and wear orange ahead of the game, which is historically played on the third Saturday in October. This year, it’s scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET on Oct. 20 in Knoxville on CBS. A limited number of tickets are available at AllVols.com.
